Q. What qualifications are necessary to become a Language Leaders' Franchisee?

A.  Language Leaders franchisees must have excellent organization skills, the ability to manage people effectivelty, and are able to explain the benefits of foreign language education to a variety of clientele.

Q. What kind of business background do I need?

A. Successful Language Leaders franchisees come from all walks of life.  Some have extensive business backgrounds while others have never run a business before.  If you are passionate about building a business that provides you with the opportunity to provide a service that will improve our society through education, then a Language Leaders franchise could be for you!

Q. What are the initial Franchising Fees?

A. Franchise fees are $2,500- $12,500 depending upon the size of the territory.

Q. What is the total investment for a Language Leaders' Franchise?

A. Since franchisees have the option of working out of their home and all work is done on the client's premises, overhead can be very minimal.  The total investment for a Language Leaders franchise is $11,075-$23,875.  These figures represent the intial start-up investment for a home based business prior to providing actual services.  Income and expenses will increase directly related to the number of clients.

Q. What is the process for becoming a Franchisee? 

A. If you meet the minimum requirements listed above, and are interested in learning more about becoming a Language Leaders franchisee, you may submit an application online by clicking here.

Once you submit an application, it will be reviewed by the Franchise Development Department. 

If initial application requirements are met, we may arrange for a formal interview. 

During the formal interview, you will have the opportunity to review Language Leaders Uniform Franchise Offering Circular (UFOC). 

After the interview process, a determination will be made as to whether or not a partnership between you and Language Leaders would be beneficial.

Q. How much pre-opening training do you provide?

A. We provide three (3) days of training at the franchise headquarters in Illinois, which gives you an overview of the whole business. All Franchise owners must attend an extensive training program. The Language Leaders training staff will work with you one-on-one, making you an expert in every aspect of your operation. You'll receive a complete set of operating manuals which provide you with invaluable operations, sales and marketing information.

Q. What form of continuing operations assistance do I receive? 

A. We offer you constant support from the first day of operation. We
provide extensive written materials, videotapes, and CD's. Our
management team will provide you with telephone support and
will consult with you on all aspects of your operation.

Q. How do you help me get started?

A. Our training program takes you step-by-step thorough every aspect of the business. We provide you with all the tools you need to get your business started well.  We are also available via phone and email to provide you with advice and discuss any questions or concerns you may have.

Q. What if there is already a Language Leaders franchise in my area of interest?

A. There are open territories in virtually every city in the United States. If there appears to be a Language Leaders franchise already in your area, give us a call. Since most metropolitan areas can support several franchises, there is a very good chance that a territory is still available near you.

Q. Are the territories exclusive? 

A. The Language Leaders Franchise Agreement offers a designated area of exclusivity based on population and demographically analyzed households, within which no other Language Leaders franchise will be developed.

Q. How long will my franchise last? 

A. The term of the Franchise Agreement is 10 years.

A. Each Language Leaders franchise will be independently owned and operated under a licensed agreement.

Additional Questions:

What areas do we recommend for a Language Leaders franchise?

We recommend areas that have a median household income of $60,000 or more,

where at least 20% of the adult population have a bachelor’s degree or higher and

where at least 20% of the population is 18 yrs of age or younger.

Can this be a home-based business?

Yes! Franchisees have the option of opening up their own facility or offering services on site at daycares, preschools, park districts, elementary schools, junior high schools, community libraries, business offices, etc.

What is the royalty fee:

Our royalty fee is 7% of the gross revenue each month.

Children's classes

We produce our own Language Leaders curriculum and materials for students 14 yrs of age and younger. Our curriculum is theme based and consists of workbooks, cds, lessons plans, posters, flashcards, etc. Our curriculum meets state board of education standards for foreign language instruction. Each set of curriculum covers 10 lessons. We have enough curriculum to teach a child from 12 mos. to 14 yrs of age. All franchisees are required to purchase our materials (lessons plans, posters, workbook and cd for classes taught to students under age 14) The cost of the workbook and cd is $15 per student. The cost of the lesson plans and posters is $15 per teacher set.

Adult Classes

We do not create curriculum for our adult program; however we do have a list of materials that we recommend the franchisee use. Theses materials can be purchased on the market.

What languages does Language Leaders offer?

Language Leaders provides classes, translating services and interpreting services in all languages. Our curriculum is translated into all languages that are requested.

It has been our experience that Spanish, French, German, Italian and Mandarin are the most requested languages in the U.S.

What sort of training do you provide?

You or an approved manager must complete the Language Leaders training program to our satisfaction. You may also bring 1 additional person such as a spouse or employee, to the training program. The training program will take place at our corporate headquarters in Chicago or Geneva, Illinois. We will hold this training periodically, as we determine necessary and desirable. The training program will be for 2 days. Training will consist of all phases of the operation including director training, teacher training, bookkeeping, supplies management, marketing, customer service, follow up procedures, customer relations, and revenue reporting procedures. All subjects will be taught by an instructor who has at least 3 years experience in that subject.

Although there are no additional fees for the training program, you must pay your own travel and living expenses incurred attending the training program. In addition, if you send more than 2 persons to the training program, we charge you $50 per additional person per day. This training will occur at times scheduled by us and may not be available immediately upon request.


Does the franchisee need to be multi-lingual?

No! We are looking for franchisees with a strong background in business management. It is helpful to have a background in foreign languages or education but it is not required.

Our daily lessons are created so that you, the business owner, are aware of what your instructor is teaching in each class. This gives you ability to ensure the highest level of quality instruction.
