Mission
YLA is an English-medium school dedicated to the intellectual and personal development of each student in a caring and supportive environment. YLA offers a challenging program to prepare an international student body to excel in a variety of the world's finest schools and universities.
At the Young Leaders Academy:
1. Students are nurtured, supported, and treated as unique individuals. All students are challenged to excel academically and, model the behaviors expected of responsible citizens.
2. The joy of learning and intrinsic motivation to become a life-long learner are emphasized as much as the acquisition of essential knowledge and the development of academic skills.
3. In addition to academics, the social climate of the school, in and out of class, encourages the development of international understanding, commitment to community service, and the acceptance of and cooperation with diverse cultures.
4. We emphasize collaboration between parents and the school. Our organizational structure reflects our commitment to giving parents the opportunity to contribute their knowledge and skills to the school.
5. Teachers focus on building each student's leadership abilities and self-esteem through academic and extra-curricular activities.
6. Our faculty applies current educational research and practices. The school's curriculum is guided by a goal of not only meeting but surpassing state and international based standards.

We educate the whole child, not only the academics but also help them grow and mature emotionally and socially in a welcoming, challenging and safe environment. We strive to meet each student’s individual needs. Student progress is closely monitored. The curriculum follows state educational standards with an international approach.
All subjects are taught in English: Mathematics, English, Science and Social Studies. Students also receive a minimum of 5 periods (45-minute periods) of Spanish a week and 2 period (30-minute periods) of Mandarin a week . Other specials include Music (piano and guitar instruction) PE, Art, MandarinComputer and Library. |
